Growing up as my family's in-house baker, it was my Dad who had the (very difficult) job of taste-testing and "rating" all of my baked creations. His rating process would start with the raw dough and would end with a bite of my freshly baked treat. The rating system's highest mark was an exuberant "A+! It was very good!" all the way down to a simple "It was OK", which really meant it was a total bust. He sure was a tough critic, especially when it came to anything lemon. Unless a lemon dessert contained enough lemon-zing to make your eyes and mouth water, I might as well have not even baked it.
